Bioesthetic Dentistry

Bioesthetic dentistry is based on natural biologic form and works by arranging the teeth to work together with the alignment of the jaw and facial muscles. The power of bioesthetic dentistry is that its principles and techniques can be universally applied by all dental disciplines to all dental system problems. Dr. Martin Gorman, our extensively trained cosmetic dentist, employs bioesthetic dentistry principles when helping patients achieve the healthiest and most beautiful smile of their lives. During your initial consultation, we will evaluate your oral structures and discuss your goals to find the optimal path forward to strong, lasting oral health and comfort.

What Are the Benefits of Bioesthetic Dentistry?

Stable, well-functioning jaw joints and oral structures are systems that do not cause pain, have limited wear and tear over time, and provide easy, regular movement that makes speaking, chewing, and other daily movement comfortable and easy. Bioesthetic dentistry can help patients who experience TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder, misaligned bite, and dental erosion address these issues for a healthier mouth and a more cosmetically attractive smile. Many individuals do not even realize some types of discomfort come from dental dysfunction; TMJ disorder can cause neck and back aches, sleep disruption / fatigue, and headaches. With treatment, you may find these concerns lessen or disappear entirely.

Why Choose Bioesthetic Dentistry?

For years, it was thought that wear and deterioration of adult teeth was part of the aging process and unavoidable. However, the bioesthetic philosophy has proved this notion to be misleading.

Today, Bioesthetic Dentistry provides patients with the best of both worlds: beautiful, natural smiles and healthy teeth that can last a lifetime.

Dentists know that chewing is a learned activity. However, patients with worn down teeth can develop dysfunctional chewing and biting patterns. Rather than an effective vertical cutting motion for chewing food, they often engage in unhealthy horizontal chewing strokes.

What Does Bioesthetic Dental Treatment Involve?

At our office, we typically conduct x-ray examinations of the jaw joints, facial bones, cervical vertebrae, sinuses and airway; take photographs of the teeth, face and smile; and check jaw alignment with special Panadent instruments. This information enables us to determine whether the patient’s jaw joints are properly aligned in their sockets and how to correct any “chewing disharmony” that is found. If the teeth are severely crooked, an orthodontist may be consulted.

We will help you select the form of treatment that will restore your oral and physical health, so you can be healthy for a lifetime.
